Great news for those of us who enjoy our time in provincial parks without being left in a cloud of second-hand smoke.
Water Stewardship and Conservation and Seniors and Consumer Affairs announced today that beginning in the summer of 2014, Manitobans and tourists will begin to enjoy smoke-free beaches and playgrounds in provincial parks.
Manitoba will be the first province in Canada to enforce smoke-free parks, with violators facing a hefty fine of $299 if caught. The announcement comes as part of a Parks Strategy that includes initiatives for making parks Gateways to Healthy Living.
