We are now accepting applications for the full-time position of store manager at our Winnipeg East (42 Speers Road) location. Applicants must display extensive retail and management / supervisory experience - plus a strong passion for the outdoors!
Job Profile – Store Manager
Wilderness Supply is searching for an outgoing, highly motivated individual to join our growing team.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Store Manager is responsible for supervising and motivating employees, customer satisfaction and the day-to-day running of the store at a profit.
The Manager is responsible for displaying goods and equipment, managing store inventory and overseeing sales. The Manager is also responsible for ensuring all staff are trained and knowledgeable about the products being sold in the store.
The Manager is responsible for occupational safety and employee relations within the store.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Post secondary education; studies in the area of business, sales would be an asset.
- Minimum 2 – 4 years related experience including experience with overseeing sales while demonstrating a proven track record in sales achievement and personnel management.
- Thorough knowledge in the field of wilderness backcountry equipment is essential.
- Experience in outdoor activities is essential; expertise in paddling would be an asset
- Experience in computerized systems; ability to learn computer systems, specific to the business.
Skills, Ability & Knowledge:
- A dedication and drive to provide superior customer service;
- Knowledge of market;
- Ability to track budget expenses;
- Strong decision making abilities;
- Conflict resolution;
- Knowledge of principles pertaining to the pricing of inventory;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain vendor relationships;
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written;
- Superior organizational skills;
- Goal oriented with the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment;
- A passion for continued education;
- Must be willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Maintains store staff by assisting with the recruitment and selection of employees; orients and trains new and current employees.
- Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Achieves financial objectives by assisting with the preparation of an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Prepares reports and evaluates the success of all daily operations and sales.
- Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintaining inventories.
- Assists with the formulation of pricing policies by reviewing merchandising activities; makes recommendations pertaining to clearance sales; studies and analyses trends.
- Secures merchandise by following prescribed programs and methods.
- Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
- Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Abides by all operational and personnel policies and procedures; makes suggestions for revisions for improvement as necessary.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
WORKING HOURS:
Full time. 8 hours per day minimum, Weekdays & weekends.
SALARY:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience; Bonus incentives plus a comprehensive benefits package is offered.
